Grant Guidelines: Tabor Foundation Health Care Scholarship

The Tabor Foundation Fund supports residents of Northeast Dutchess and Northwest Litchfield Counties who plan to undertake training in a field of healthcare and to seek employment in Northeast Dutchess or Northwest Connecticut.

Eligibility

Applicants must be residents of Northeast Dutchess (Amenia, Clinton Corners, Dover Plains, Millbrook, Millerton, North East, Pine Plains, Stanford, Washington, Wassaic and Wingdale) or Northwest Litchfield (Canaan, Cornwall, Falls Village, Kent, Sharon, Salisbury) counties.

If you were awarded a scholarship as a result of your application submitted by June 30, 2012; you are not eligible to apply for the November 1, 2012 deadline.

Awards

Awards generally range between $1,000 to $4,000.

Applicants will be informed of Berkshire Taconic’s decision within two months of the deadline date.

Review Criteria

The committee will review requests for scholarships according to the following criteria:

  • Impact of funding on the applicant’s ability to attain a healthcare qualification
  • Ability of the applicant to move forward in his/her career through attainment of a healthcare qualification
  • Commitment of the applicant to a healthcare career in the communities of Northwest Connecticut or Northeast Dutchess County
  • Preference may be given to students who are going to school while taking care of dependent family members
  • Preference may be given to students who are attending schools in Northwest Connecticut or Dutchess County.

    • Applications will be reviewed by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. Their recommendations will be reviewed by Berkshire Taconic’s board of directors.

    NOTE: The Healthcare Auxiliary for the Tri State Region (P.O. Box 1505, Sharon, CT 06069) and the Salisbury Rotary Foundation (P.O. Box 287, Salisbury, CT 06068 ) also offer healthcare scholarships for residents of Northeast Dutchess and Northwest Litchfield. We encourage you to also contact these organizations for support.
