May 1 Deadline for Columbia County Scholarships

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Four scholarship funds managed by Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation are accepting applications through 5 p.m. on May 1. Eligibility criteria, application forms and a list of previous award winners are available here or by calling Berkshire Taconic at 413.528.8039.
The funds are:
Dr. Luis A. Jacomé Scholarship Fund—New in 2010, this scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Ichabod Crane High School who will be entering their first year of a two-year or four-year nationally accredited college or university with a particular interest in the field of health or science.
Cha-Nel Scholarship Fund—Available to graduating high school seniors of Chatham and New Lebanon High Schools. Students who are entering their first year of a two or four year college or university are eligible. The fund awards a $1,000 scholarship annually to one student from each high school. Award criteria include: significance of the scholarship to the student, demonstration of motivation to succeed in pursing a two or four year college degree, financial need and academic potential.
Ferris Burtis Scholarship Fund—Students eligible are graduating high school seniors who are full-time residents of the Berkshire Taconic Region and have been accepted in a conservatory or school of music for the fall term 2010 for the purpose of pursuing a career in some form of classical music.
Quailwood Scholarship Fund—This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who are full-time residents within the area of Red Rock during the two consecutive years prior to application and who have been accepted at a college or professional program. Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s academic achievement or potential, efforts and ambitions to meet life goals, and financial need.
