NED Awards Grants to 10 Northeast Dutchess Nonprofits

Great Barrington, MA—The Northeast Dutchess Fund recently awarded $22,000 in grants to ten nonprofit groups. NED, a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, awards grants to nonprofit or civic groups that enhance the quality of life in Amenia, Clinton Corners, Dover Plains, Millbrook, Millerton, North East, Pine Plains, Stanford, Washington, Wassaic and Wingdale.
The Northeast Dutchess Fund awarded the following grants:
American Red Cross Dutchess County: $1,500 for scholarships for youth to attend its babysitter training classes.
Astor Home for Children: $1,420 for three digital cameras and supplies for use in their programs for children.
Child Abuse Prevention Center: $1,000 to purchase new materials for Teen Life Connections, which serves middle and high school students.
Dutchess County YMCA: $3,000 to help start a Leaders Club at Stissing High School in the Pine Plains Central School District.
Institute of Ecosystem Studies: $4,400 for scientific materials for the Pathways to Ecosystem Literacy Initiative, which seeks to achieve ecosystem literacy in all Millbrook public school students.
Millbrook Free Library: $1,500 to increases activities available to its Tween Group.
Northeast-Millerton Library: $325 toward a match grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that will improve the library’s technology.
Paige George Literacy Foundation: $1,000 for a summer leadership program for low- income rural and migrant families.
North East Community Council: $3,000 for a facilitator and childcare for its Family Support program.
Town of Amenia: $3,000 for its ballroom dance program for students in the Webutuck School District.
A committee of local residents reviews applications and awards grants based on excellence of the proposed project or service, its impact on the organization or community, and the ability of the organization to carry out the project.
