Quailwood Fund
Jonathan Schor (1946-2004), a resident of Red Rock for 30 years, established the Quailwood Fund before he died as an endowment that would generate annual grants to support the community of Red Rock, defined roughtly as the Red Rock Fire District in the towns of Austerlitz, Canaan and Chatham, NY. Grantmaking focuses on public services, conservation work, public recreation facilities, fire and rescue facilities and educational scholarships.
The Quailwood Fund has four grant programs: the Quailwood General Fund, Quailwood Scholarship Fund for Students, Quailwood Scholarship Fund for Adult Students and Red Rock Emergency Relief Fund.
According to Jon's wishes, the fund's committee members are the presidents of the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company, Red Rock Historical Society, Canaan Conservation Club and Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and the executive director of the Columbia Land Conservancy. Grants are awarded through the Fund for Columbia County and the Cha-Nel Scholarship Fund.
