South Berkshire County Fund
Berkshire Taconic established this fund in 2005 to support the towns of southern Berkshire County: Alford, Egremont, Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Otis, Richmond, Sandisfield, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tyringham and West Stockbridge.
Considering the economic struggles that our communities are experiencing, in 2011 the South Berkshire County Fund will provide support (up to $7,500) to three or four nonprofits whose programs work with vulnerable populations of the region. 16 organizations have been invited to apply for funding for projects or programs that seek to improve the social, economic, mental or physical well being of residents in South County. Over the long term, the Fund envisions an interconnected web of services for families and individuals in the area. In light of dwindling resources both public and private, and concerns with the overlap of services, the Fund will give priority to collaborative proposals that maximize efficiencies to deliver services directly to constituents in need.
