In the fall of 2016, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation launched a process to learn more about the pressing issues facing our region. As a foundation with a 30-year history of helping to build stronger communities, we are privileged to partner with donors, nonprofits and community leaders as they work to enrich lives and meet urgent needs every day.

Looking toward our future, we wanted to gather a set of data and have a series of deliberate discussions to hear directly from a diverse range of residents. We wanted to know from their perspectives what is most important for improving lives, what challenges they face and what is keeping them in — or causing them to consider leaving — this extraordinary region. Working with a research partner, we held a dozen focus groups, launched four online surveys and reviewed existing data and reports. "A Closer Look" results from that process.

Join us for a webinar on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. to learn more about the contents of "A Closer Look."

Berkshire Taconic President Peter Taylor will be your host during this online event. He will walk through highlights of the report with Mt. Auburn Associates President Beth Siegel, who guided the research. Together, they will expand on the report's contents, sharing insights on the process and results of this yearlong project.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A to allow participants to learn more about specific areas of interest, and to share some of the good work being done in our communities to meet the challenges ahead.
