Scholarship Guidelines

WHO CAN APPLY

Graduating seniors who are residents of Great Barrington, Richmond, West Stockbridge or Stockbridge to pursue post secondary studies in a career which will ultimately benefit the community in which the student lives, such as agriculture, conservation, the environment, nursing or teaching.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The West Stockbridge Grange Scholarship Fund was created from the proceeds of the sale of the West Stockbridge Grange building.

ELIGIBILITY

The West Stockbridge Grange Scholarship Fund will provide at least one annual scholarship(s) to graduating seniors who are residents of Great Barrington, Richmond, West Stockbridge or Stockbridge to pursue post secondary studies in a career which will ultimately benefit the community in which the student lives, such as agriculture, conservation, the environment, nursing or teaching.

AWARDS

There will be one $1,150 award given annually if funding is available and if there is an eligible candidate.

REVIEW CRITERIA

Criteria for selection include:

  • Must be graduating from a local high school in good academic standing as evidenced by SAT scores, class rank and overall grades
  • Must have financial need
  • Show significant evidence of a contribution to society during high school such as:
      • Volunteer work with a local non-profit agency
      • Leadership and involvement with school activities
      • Other community involvement
  • Recipient of education/community awards
  • Express efforts and ambitions to achieve life and academic goals
  • Be accepted and enrolled at a two-year or four-year college or university. This may include vocational schools, trade schools or apprenticeships
Applications will be reviewed by the West Stockbridge Grange Scholarship Advisory Committee. Their recommendations will be reviewed by Berkshire Taconic’s Distribution Committee and board of directors.
