18 New England Artists and 11 Arts Organizations Receive Grants from Berkshire Taconic Fund

Great Barrington, MA –The Artist’s Resource Trust (A.R.T.) recently awarded grants totaling $161,170 to 18 artists and 11 arts organizations throughout New England. A.R.T., a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, annually awards grants to mid-career New England visual artists and to nonprofit organizations wishing to commission or purchase work by mid-career artists living in New England.
This year, A.R.T. awarded grants ranging from $1,500 to $20,000 to the following museums and art centers:
Berkshire Museum for acquisition of a painting by Morgan Bulkeley
Sterling and Francine Clark Art Museum for Kidspace at MASS MoCA to support an exhibition and artist’s residence project featuring sculptor Richard Criddle.
Danforth Museum of Art for a project by Boston-based multimedia artist Lana Z. Caplan, exhibited at the museum October 31–December 16, 2007.
DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park to support the installation/performance project, “Melon,” by artist Leah Gauthier.
MASS MoCA to support exhibitions of New England artists.
MIT List Visual Arts Center, to purchase, ship and frame prints and photographs from several New England artists for the Student Loan Art Collection.
Real Way Arts, to support “Shadow Show,” an exhibition of work in which shadows play an integral part.
Simmons College Art Collection for a commission that will allow Nancy Friese to paint along Boston’s Emerald Necklace over the course of a year.
Smith College Museum of Art to support the purchase of four photographs by Jerome Liebling.
Storefront Artist Project for a portfolio of digital, archival ink jet prints by six artists from Berkshire County, MA.
Vermont Studio Center for residencies for two artists.
Eighteen individual artists, selected from 125 applicants, received grants ranging from $1,000 to $15,000. The grantees are:
