Five Sharon Students Win Teddy Lee Drumm Scholarships
July 21 , 2008
Great Barrington, MA —The Teddy Lee Drumm Memorial Scholarship Fund today announced that it has awarded scholarships totaling $6,300 to five students from Sharon.
First-time recipients are Nina Carberry, who will attend Johnson State College, Marie Christensen, enrolled at Clemson University, and Whitney Hafford, who will attend Messiah College. Stuart Prindle, currently enrolled in the University of Connecticut, and Allison Casey, a Johnson State College student, received renewals of the Drumm scholarships they received in 2007.
An endowment of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, the fund is now in its tenth year of awarding scholarships.
“Thanks to the generosity of this supportive community, the fund is steadily growing, as is the number of students whom we can help each year,” said Ted Drumm. Drumm and his wife Buena established the fund in honor of their son Teddy, who died unexpectedly in 1999. The fund helps Sharon youth who are highly motivated to succeed in college and for whom the award will have a significant impact both personally and financially.
