New Fund for Students of Music and Vocational Arts

August 27, 2010

SHEFFIELD, MA—Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation announced today the establishment of a new scholarship fund. The James E. “Jamie” Bugley Scholarship Fund (The Jamie Fund) was established in memory of the late Jamie Bugley, and will build over time to provide scholarships to high school seniors in Berkshire County, MA who wish to pursue a career in either music or vocational arts (automotive/mechanical/ electrical technology or any of the trades).

Jamie Bugley died suddenly on March 31, 2010 at his home in Pittsfield, MA. He grew up in Interlaken MA, was a business owner, musician, and active member of the community, and was beloved by his friends and family.

"Jamie's passions were for music and all things mechanical," said his parents and sisters. "He was an accomplished, talented drummer and vocalist, performing in venues across the county and beyond. He was able to troubleshoot and fix ailing engines and machinery of all kinds. He loved the outdoors, and often told us that no executive office anywhere could compete with the beauty and peace of the Berkshire hills and fields and forests, which were his office. His spirit of unselfish generosity touched many. He would enthusiastically approve of this memorial scholarship, 'The Jamie Fund', and his gracious spirit will guide those who benefit from it. We are proud of our son and brother, and we are grateful to those who honor his memory along with us."

“A Special Tribute to Jamie Bugley” will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Stockbridge Sportsman’s Club on Route 102 (West Stockbridge Road) in Stockbridge, MA from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The musical event will be a celebration of Jamie’s 42nd birthday and will feature members of Wishful Thinking and Balance (the bands Jamie played with for most of his musical career), as well as other local bands and musicians (including SM!LE, Satellite Shine, Evan Rude & the Motors, Legacy, Gina Coleman & Misty Blues, Dave Vittone, Kip Beacco, and Tom Ingersoll) playing music that Jamie performed and/or loved or that in some way embodies his spirit. Proceeds will go to the Fund. For more information on the event, contact Jim Reynolds via email at wishful@bcn.net or by phone at 413-528-4113.

The Jamie Fund was established by his family in April 2010 in the hopes that it will become a permanent resource for students of Berkshire County.
