The Moviehouse Studio Gallery at the Moviehouse in Millerton will donate 20 percent of its sales from Thanksgiving to Christmas to two local charitable funds: the Northeast Dutchess Fund and the Fund for Columbia County. During this time, the gallery will feature photographs by Marsden Epworth and H. H. Clark.
“We see this as a great way to give back to the community while encouraging people to come view the work of two wonderful photographers,” said Carol Sadlon, director of the Moviehouse and the Moviehouse Studio Gallery. “The funds help nonprofit groups do good work in our area, and we are happy to be able to support their work.”
Marsden Epworth’s work is entitled “See All About It: The news (some of it) in picture.” Epworth is editor of the Compass, Lakeville Journal’s award-winning arts and entertainment section. His photographs illustrate the ordinary, sometimes funny, and often beautiful things we see every day.
H.H. Clark (1888-1984) photographed subjects ranging from the Alaskan landscape to the Central Park Zoo. The visual expressions captured in his photography have been praised by contemporary photographers seeking to achieve a similar atmospheric perspective in their work in Central Park today.
The Moviehouse Studio Gallery is located at 48 Main Street, Millerton, NY. More information is available on its website, www.themoviehouse.net, or by calling 860-435-2897.
