November 21 Teleconference Will Discuss IRA Charitable Rollover, Other Changes in Tax Code

November 1, 2006

Great Barrington, MA — The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is offering a free teleconference on November 21 from 3-4 p.m. about the new tax benefits of IRA charitable distributions and other recent changes in the tax code. The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows individuals age 70 ˝ and older to transfer up to $100,000 from an individual retirement account (IRA) directly to a qualifying charity without paying income tax. The presenter will be Attorney Janne Gallagher, vice president and general counsel for the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C.

Participants must pre-register for the teleconference by visiting www.berkshiretaconic.org or by calling Pat Salvi at 413-528-8039.

“The Pension Protection Act is a “win-win provision for IRA holders and the charities they support,” said Jennifer Dowley, president of Berkshire Taconic. “For 2006 and 2007 only, individuals have the wonderful opportunity to give more for less.”
