Nonprofit Services - Receive Nonprofits & Individuals - Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation

Since 1987 and in partnership with many generous donors, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has delivered over $135 million in grants. Grantmaking is important, but there are many other ways that we assist nonprofits in our region.

Center for Nonprofit Excellence

Berkshire Taconic helps nonprofits build more secure futures for themselves and their communities by providing training and professional development through the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE). The CNE is overseen by an advisory board made up of experts and community leaders in nonprofit management.

The CNE offers services and resources to help the staff, board and volunteers of nonprofits think strategically, govern effectively and operate efficiently—through seminars, scholarships and capacity-building programs:

  • Board Leadership Forum
The Board Leadership Forum is the region's first and only daylong training and networking opportunity exclusively for nonprofit board members and executive directors, featuring three learning tracks on nonprofit governance, fundraising and managing organizational change, and nine workshops by leading experts on the latest trends in the field. The inaugural event was held at Bard College at Simon's Rock on Oct. 13, 2018.
  • Community Engagement Through the Arts Capacity Building Program
Provides nonprofit staff members and board members in Berkshire County with intensive yearlong training on how to increase community engagement through the arts and creative process, especially among lower-income residents, communities of color, youth and immigrants.
  • Harvard Business School Scholarships
Scholarships for nonprofit CEOs and board chairs or vice chairs to attend intensive training programs at Harvard Business School in Boston
  • Nonprofit Learning Program
Training and consultation in nonprofit governance, management and fund development
  • Nonprofit Leadership Institute
Building leadership and management skills for nonprofit executive directors through a collaborative, peer-learning program
  • Nonprofit Seminars
Annual seminars geared toward the interests and needs of local nonprofits such as fundraising, technology and marketing
  • Resources for Nonprofits
Access to our conference rooms, national grant search database and resource library

Endowment Building

We can help you build your endowment through investments, designated funds and donor bequests.

Nonprofit Agency Funds
For many nonprofits, investing through BTCF provides access to financial planners and managers that they would not have otherwise. Learn more about investing through us.

Designated Funds
We can help your donors establish designated funds for your organization that will provide a steady income stream.

Planned Giving
Berkshire Taconic can also work with donors who wish to give to your organization in their estate plan or will. We can help them establish a charitable remainder trust, arrange for a gift of real estate or other estate planning vehicle.
