Scholarship Guidelines
WHO CAN APPLY
Students who have graduated from Webutuck High School and who will be enrolled in their second or third year at an accredited college or who will be enrolled in the second year of a two-year accredited college course.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The Violet H. Simmons Summer Enrichment Scholarship Fund is an endowment of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.
AWARDS
The fund offers grants of up to $5,000 to underwrite an “extraordinary summer experience” for graduates of Webutuck High School who are enrolled in their second or third year at a four-year accredited college or in their second year at an accredited two-year college.
ELIGIBILITY
Examples of programs that the scholarship might support include: a local, national or international service project; travel related to a particular area of academic research or study; an unpaid internship or independent study; and other study, work or services relating to the arts, government, ecology, history, literature, the sciences, children or youth.
REVIEW CRITERIA
The committee will review requests for scholarships according to the following criteria:
- The quality of the student’s essay
- Academic achievement
- Community involvement
- Intellectual curiosity
- Seriousness of purpose
